What are the uses for food-grade hydrogen peroxide?

Answer:

Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide has a massive variety of uses.

Different concentrations are used for different things. Do not confuse this with the idea of 'Grade'. There are a few grades like Technical grade, Electrical grade, Agricultural grade etc, etc. Also be aware that drug store varieties of H2O2 and other grades are full of toxic additives and stabalizers and cannot be used for people. Drugstore peroxide is only for external use.

Here are just a few examples of Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide uses:

  • Mouthwash
  • Vegetable Wash
  • Sanitizer and Disinfectant
  • Toothpaste
  • Foot/Bath Soak
  • Facial Wash.

Obviously, make sure you do a bit of research on these if thinking of using peroxide. In addition to this, it is also more cost effective to buy high concentration 35% Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide and dilute it for your particular use.

To make a 3% solution from 35%, mix 11 parts distilled water with 1 part H2O2.

For examples, the local Mennonites who milk their cows will mix in food grade peroxide (in the correct amount) as a way to kill the germs in the raw milk. Or even I dilute 3% peroxide (which is what we usually can buy at the local store) by half, and use it for a very good mouthwash. Some even use it as a water purifier. Here's one embedded post from a fellow who does that.  "Every time you have an empty mineral water bottle or juice bottle, rinse and fill with water and add a couple drops of food grade hydrogen peroxide, and cap tightly and put up on the top closet shelf or under the sink, there's always a little room, and the worst that will happen is in a year you may need to empty and refill them".

Keep in mind at 100% the Nazis used it as a very caustic and dangerous fuel during WWII. After all, it is a poison that kills germs. If that sounds alarming, remember we put chlorine (another poison) in our drinking water and our swimming pools, and fluoride in our drinking water, too. It's all in the "dose" as the old saying goes.
