Laws vs. morals

It's up to we the people in the end. One can even say it is a matter of trust, faith, and confidence in our rulers. One can also say it is a matter of trust, faith, and confidence in those they appoint, assign, and promote. The more practical will say they got their attention recently  when it had adverse effects on them.

What set me off are two things.  One is the statement of the IRS person who said something like she had not done anything illegal. The other thing is how much do we want to go down the path of using laws only as way to rule, including  applied to our leaders.

How about morals, like what we learn at home about values that count? Of course, how can our parents teach us morals if they are woefully deficient in their upbringing?  Such a question even suggests the morals solution will take decades to take effect.

I suspect all juries are torn this way, too.

Of course there is also Plan B. Basically that alternative suggests if the present situation continues, the whole thing will probably collapse.  Then we are probably more on our own than we want to imagine; and even to me making some electricity and growing food will become my priority.

So in the interim, whether we presently muddle through or lie or deceive or whatever, consider teaching your children your values.

My vote is for morals. Your vote is up to you.
