Mary Orr
She was an ancestor of mine.
She died of old age around a half century ago.
As Family stories go, she was the first female graduate of Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN.  It was circa 1900.
To this teenage boy during our visit, she was ugly as sin, with a wonderful personality.  Our visit was during the 1960's.
Her husband had died circa 1920.
Our visit was to Glen Levin, which was like a smaller version of Tara in the movie Gone With the Wind.
Since then the place has been preserved thanks to money from the song Harper Valley PTA, or so the story goes.
I still buy the line that we are not truly dead until we are forgotten.
            And I remember Mary Orr.
