Story telling as entertainment
Now's a good time to plan ahead as to storytelling.
Whether the world turns to crap or not, a good story is always good entertainment, be it around a fire outdoors, or inside a cottage during hard times.
And I was shocked, yes shocked as in the movie "Casablanca", when most kids I know wanted to hear scary stories.  By request, to boot. But also, having been a kid and a parent, sometimes scary stories are probably not appropriate for all situations.  After all, kids, and Mom's and Dad's, need to sleep, too, like get their rest when they can.
            Here's one quote, too.

The Web is a Storytelling Medium

"The Web is a storytelling medium. Most people function in a storytelling mode. It's the way we communicate ideas, richly, as well as how we structure our thoughts.

I have never known a great teacher, a great political leader or great military leader who wasn't also a great storyteller. Education is a storytelling problem.

Leadership is a storytelling problem. Ultimately, being a CIO (Chief Information Officer?) is a storytelling problem. However, most CIOs don't understand that."     -- Bran Ferren

Now do the numbers, if you will. Suppose you tell five stories a week. And you have a 100 stories. Well that works out to 20 weeks of stories before you have to start repeating them, hopefully with some modifications to disguise the changes.

And if you have magician type skills, that is even better. You can mix up story telling with magic stuff. How about some singing, too?

Now many of us like telling stories, but only a few are good are it. Even some that read books are better than others as to mesmerizing the listeners.

So now is a good time for building up one's "repertoire" of stories if you are so inclined. After all most of us like listening to stories.

And there is nothing wrong with telling scary stories, or even tall tales.  Heck one can even ascribe superhuman qualities to our ancestors, too.

The key point is entertainment. And it does not take electricity, but it does take some natural ability, whether times are good or bad.

Now there are some that do this for a living, but probably many like them are amongst us, thank goodness.
