Phrases that appeal to me
One is the idea of long term, vice
short term. One obvious idea is to think about the future, vice just today. One
usually thinks our children are more long term than short term, for example.
Now the short term thinkers are in
the majority these days.
One classical way to think about
long term vs. short term is like during a war. Does one think about winning the
peace, or winning the war?
That leads to the second phrase that
appeals to me.
Do you believe in national defense?
If so, are you willing to fight and
die for your beliefs? Are you willing to pay for a national defense, usually in
taxes and your work to pay the taxes?
Do you want to preserve and enhance your way of life, to include your quality
of life? That question applies to your
children, too.
If you are like most, then you
really don't care or worry about yourself very much. At age approaching 65 I have been
through these questions, too. Now it is your turn.
