Can humans survive hard times?
       Of course we can.
Now many won't make it, and the transition to basic survival things will take time, like maybe a year or two.
            But we collectively will survive.
And there will be an elite class that lives off the rest of us. So be it. This post is about "us".
And "us" will survive. That is some of us. Those that die will usually do so to help those that do survive. Often illness will kick in, too.
And we will bury them, cremate them, or whatever is our past custom. But for sure, we will be respectful of our dead.
Now ideas like food, shelter, and clothing will take on more significance, like normal. So will basic things like security, water, both clean and waste water, and taking care of our sick humans, both old and young.  Said another way, we will take care of our children and our relatives, as best we can.
Mostly we have to eat and drink clean water to survive. And it will be amazing how many humans both enjoy growing food, and are willing to do all the work needed to do so.
The sorting out period will be tenuous, but we humans will survive. Like if one thinks things are tough now, including all the human politics we put up with, then welcome to more tough times.
And ideas like the noble savage, or living off the land, or men and women are the same, will simply fade by the simple acts of surviving. And we will survive.
What makes we humans special is our ability to be ingenious, and our willingness to suffer, usually to make things better. So be it.
Heck, even I might get more religious. I might be a slow learner, but I can learn.
And by the idea of learning, we are way ahead of older times, like the Dark Ages in Europe.  For example, our human way of communicating by radio is much better than what our ancestors had during their times, including making the electricity for this to happen. This idea alone should enhance our restoring a way of life to better times. This idea includes our entertainment. After all, we humans do enjoy entertainment.
            Only time will tell.
