Numbers count, too
The obvious example is in the
military and national defense. If a leader chooses not to risk limited assets
to losses, then as good as these assets
are, these assets are also of limited value if not used, or run out do to enough
losses, if used.
But when I thought about it some
more, this idea applies to many other things, too.
Like in being invaded by hordes
probably sick, cold, and hungry during a societal collapse. No amount of home
defense will probably work if the numbers are wrong. We all have our low lifes,
wherever we live, and they are generally pretty smart, too.
Like in lack of water, and food,
which we do need in numbers based on how many people that need the water and
food to live. We can't eat money, or gold, for that matter.
Like in lack of heat, due to cutting
down too many trees; or do we have a sustainable base of trees. Now this heat
could be to warm our bodies, or just to cook with.
Like in finance, as if no one will
loan us money because our taxes can't pay all the bills. Bottom line, one must pay their bills with a
good record to earn a loan, or even the confidence we will pay back the loaners
money, plus interest. Yep, numbers count, too; plus trust, faith, and
confidence.
Like in politics, as if a minority
can deny the majority, then no amount of effort can deny the numbers, in the
end. I just hope it doesn't take a revolution, civil war, or insurgency to make
it happen. As always, I still prefer the vote to give us "numbers" a chance to
influence the policy and laws, if this is even the case.
And last, our world population,
which continues to grow. Numbers count, too, like we humans may consume all our
resources, and have vast die offs as a miserable result. Or maybe it will be some kind of pandemic, which will kill off so many of
us. Whatever, the numbers will count, too.
If this process happens, like
numbers count, it won't be fun. And it most likely will mentally scar our children and
their future leadership until the day they grow old and die. Bummer. But numbers do count.
