One health idea to think about

One health idea to think about

It's an idea that has been around for thousands of years, but little is still confidently known about. It's called congenital and genetic disorders that may kill us early.

First the good news. Most humans, and most of our cultures, invite us to be mongrels when it comes to breeding.  That idea alone often weeds out many genetic disorders, and generally speaking, makes we humans genetically superior. Said another way, the old idea of dominant genes and regressive genes still works as an idea for most of us. So while we all have a name, we are really some combination of all of our ancestors, and focusing on one family's genetic disorders is often a waste of our time.

Now the aforementioned doesn't suggest to not try to figure out any genetic or congenital disorder we may have. It does suggest just not to attribute it to any one Family. Maybe a blood line may work for you, but as always, it depends on the situation.

Now the bad news. We all know we are going to die sometime. Nobody I know even wants to live forever, though I am sure there are some around.

So maybe in a couple of centuries, the health knowledge base will be better than what we have in 2013. That's just speculation, in the end.

Rather I think about quality of life while I have it.

Most of us are selfish enough to want our death to be quick and painless, and most just don't want to be a burden, especially an expensive burden, to our relatives and our society.

Anyway, this is just another health idea to think about in 2013.

Sometimes the best answer is that I  just don't know for sure, and trying experiments (like trial and error) is still not a bad way to go in 2013. And we as humans do make progress in our medical knowledge and health treatment methods, and hope does spring eternal, even in 2013. And sometimes the patient dies in spite of our best efforts, which will happen anyway when the grim reaper eventually appears sometime in our own individual future.
