Congressional staff

Congressional staff

A wiki link on the subject can be found at:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Congressional_staff

Add in executive staff, and judicial staff, and we in the USA have a shadow form of government who have a lot to do with budgeting,  for example. Obamacare is another example.   For even another example, with the present appointment of "czars" by the Obama administration, these positions are often funded by not appointing people to "authorized"  positions in various Executive Departments and are already funded by our Congress, and use the same money to pay the "czars" who then rule over us without any Senate approval. Of course I am talking about dispensing our vast Federal Income Taxes, and creating new regulations, often well intended I suspect.

As one who has lived inside the beltway, plus having even biked with some staffers, I think I know the routine. It goes back decades, by the way. And most staffers are hard working, but now is the time for leadership of them, too. Even well intended people need leadership, too. This even assumes many of our elected people are poor leaders who simply accept the status quo, vice lead.

Even now there are different workout gyms for staffers who serve in the House and the Senate, and the taxpayers paid for them, too. Even Speaker of the House Pelosi (at the time) supported this legislation. Now the taxpayers get to even pay for 75% of their future health care, thus perpetuating the present health care system they enjoy.  And one cannot join the others' gym, even if they even want to. On health care, said another way, common citizens have to work for paying both their own health care expenses, and those of their "elite" leaders, all without a public vote.

Now in fairness, the military has had such a similar gym even built into the Pentagon back in the 1940's, and that is immoral, too, in my opinion.

During WWII 200 congress people exempted themselves from the rationing system because of their "important" positions. Well our ancestors raised a ruckus, and the exemption was repealed. All for one and one for all I would still say, as do many others.

Now I wonder if we present people are up to the same kind of dilemmas and decisions these present days.  Said another way, I am up for the idea of sacrifice...by all!  Said even another way, our Country first!  If we have a "brain drain" among out staffers, so be it. Let them take their chances on the open market like the rest of us.
