Propaganda by another name

It always works, for a while.

And all I want to do is have water and food and make some electricity, if times get hard. Like propaganda runs out of its obvious benefits to the benefited, and I still have to live and work in the aftermath, the resulting mess if you will.

Even at age 65 I kind of feel like the kid who said "the king has no clothes".

Now I do expect at least the basics from my governments, like my local, state, and federal governments. For that I am willing to vote and pay taxes. But no performance, or poor performance,  by those we elected and pay taxes to, like the basics, then don't expect much from response from we common citizens. Hence this post. The idea of trust, faith, and confidence comes to mind. Another term, moral authority, comes to mind, too.

What also prompts this post is a recent article about our present federal President. In it people he hired were often using the basic principles of propaganda to rule.  Well, again, I agree it works for a while, but I still get left holding the bag when propaganda no longer works, like I am cold and hungry, and know it.  Heck maybe we might even lose a war like the Nazi's did less than a century ago, and millions of people had to die, too.  I hope we don't get that bad off.

Said another way, using propaganda is a crummy way to rule a country in the long term, like more than ten years or so. And lying as a way to rule is a bad idea, too. And short term gains is less important than long term gains. Even steadfastness counts a lot, too.

So what are we common citizens to do? I would suggest we still vote and pay taxes, and let things change over time using those methods. The alternatives include things like a civil war or a revolution, but I don't recommend them at this time. This idea includes the so-called low information voter, who after all breed, have Families, and need water and food, too.

In the meantime, it sure looks like hard times are coming given the present situation.

Propaganda only works for a while.

And many people will die, maybe including me.
