The adjustment timing
I like to read as a hobby, and enjoy it.
And what I read today suggests if times get hard, the "adjustment period" may last like a year or two, probably like a year and a half.
After all, we humans are resilient, and no amount of human and politician intervention will change that, in my opinion. So much for their ideas.
So we will come back, albeit after many hard times, including death. In the meantime, I even ordered some more seeds, just in case, and hope they arrive, just in case. Of course, in Plan B, then I have to do a garden, which I can do OK, if I have to. At least it will save me money, and maybe even keep me alive for the old  guy I have become.
Even now I sit by a small wood and cooking stove made for Mexico, but also used for good purposes in Tennessee where I live on the Cumberland Plateau in east Tennessee, with a lot of land below, too. I like being a little warm, and this stove, and wearing long johns, does OK. And it is chilly, and rainy, to boot today. And of course, if I am wrong, then I still enjoy the heat and way of life, like it cuts down my electric bill as I use things like local wood, and even charcoal. Yep today I did my final fine tuning to make sure the bad gas goes outside so I don't die inside. And of course, the rain and snow helps my springs keep flowing, kind of like the old days.
So to summarize, if our latest federal experiment/initiative in socialism fails, then I think I and others can survive long enough to emerge on the other side, and as painful as it may be during the time. But at least there is an end, at least in what I read, and a year or two is not too bad, overall.
