Hemlocks' sitrep Friday, February 27th

Hemlocks' sitrep (situation report) Friday, February 27th

Hopefully this winter is going through its last gasp of below freezing weather, with things getting just above freezing beginning tomorrow.  It should stay below freezing all day, today, too. The forecasted high is 26 F, by the way.

Right now it is around 18 F outside and around 65 F inside.

Spring begins March 21st so things will still be chilly for a while. For example, the ole Granny usual planting date is May 15th around here. And the driveway is still full of solid ice in many places.

Just how many are still without electricity and heat right now I do not know. Yesterday’s estimates would have it in the thousands, still.

So the outside electrical workers are still at it, and God bless them. They sure helped me, too. This ice storm was pretty bad around here. And it hit last Saturday morning, too.

And all the people are pulling together, pretty much. Like I said earlier in another email, this region would make you proud to be an American.

And the yard dogs still seem to like it, or at least put up with it.

Today is a regular cooked food day, vice eating MRE’s, for example. Not that there is anything wrong with MRE’s.....  The mystery meat stories keep it entertaining, too.

Hopefully I can get the RAM pumping again maybe this coming Sunday. Meanwhile I just draw on the water tank supply, which is doing OK, so I do have some water.

Last, I thank  XXXX again for all his help. It now seems kind of funny saying to him: “here’s a flashlight, here’s your port a’ potty, and you get to pick out your sleeping bag”.
