How to raise a flag pole?

Plan A: Anyway you can.  Use your ingenuity and available materials.  Improvise!  My first flagpole came from a locust log I cut in the forest, and it took 4 of us put it in the hole we had dug.  The parts all came scrounged from the local property, and the yard puppies chewed it up in the end.  I had placed the lanyard tie off too low and they got to it for their chewing purposes that all puppies seem to do.
