The well’s about dry
Even the USA strengths we the people
make for ourselves of economic and military power are exhaustible, it seems.
This is an
opinion, not a fact.
Our present leaders
can actually “drain the well”, so to speak. All we people are expected to do is
work and pay taxes it seems these days. And I don’t just mean the federal
executive, but it sure seems like it is at all levels these days, like their
status quo will just continue forever. It just takes time for change to happen. And
time usually means to both drain the well, and then begin to refill the well we
all so enjoy the benefits of, mostly like life, and also hope for our
children’s futures. Said another way, we
are presently making problems for future political leaders to try solve, and
many people now alive will be dead before their time and early at the end of
it. What a sad state of affairs is this opinion has some basis in fact.
Here in the
USA it is now obvious to me we are unilaterally and militarily disarming. The practical outcomes seem obvious to
me. Diplomacy will suffer if adversaries
discount the words and effects of our now ever decreasing and more limited military
power, as well as the words our leaders and diplomats use. Now if that is what we want for our children,
so be it. I suspect most don’t, and are willing to work and pay taxes for
something better, mostly for their children.
And most adversaries these days seem to be discounting our leaders’
words more and more, which makes for a very dangerous situation. This is often
how wars start.
So I can
bitch if I want. Or I can try do something about trying to “refill the well” as
best I can. Mostly that means vote for
those who can do their jobs as best they judge, and over time of course. It also
means more practical things, like we growing a garden for food to eat. Only time will tell. But I sure don’t want to
have to surrender to some foreign regional power, and have my children suffer
the consequences because, in the end, the well is dry.
