Israel

Israel

I once went to school with an Israeli Lt. Col. who volunteered Menachem Begin (former political leader) was bad for Israel, politically speaking in his opinion.  We were both getting a haircut in Virginia, at the time. I had offered a auto ride since I had a car. This was decades ago.

Who knows these days what our ancestors intended (as in unintended consequences) when Israel was created by the U.N. in the Middle East, like where it is today. Alternatives were like in Africa, or even in Ohio in the USA. Especially, did they imagine the impacts of their politics and decisions that we get to live with in 2013.

There are some things worth fighting for, and I admire the Israeli's for thinking about this, since it often affects their life, and their Family's life.  Israel is not that big a piece of land. And the people trying to kill them are not that swift, and if they win will probably make the quality of life worse for all.

Does Israel have nuclear weapons...probably.  All this opinion of mine is from open source reports, including the South African connections at the time. Will they use them in 2013... who knows? But the Israeli political and military leaders understand the idea of  "unintended consequences", and actually plan for it, or so I believe in 2013.

Is Israel worth fighting for. In my mind, yes. That includes my children and grandchildren and friends, if it should happen, like even a USA military draft. The intent is to advance our USA interests, including our children and grandchildren's interests in going forward as best we can.

And I recognize I made it through the past wickets, but  many others who served their country well have not done as well.  I admire them, too. And yes, I have been shot at, too.

Of course it will depend on the circumstances at the time. Even the old Leon Uris novels are just passé these days.  It's all about our future in 2013.
