Water Well Basics

Consider two wells if need be.

One well might have lower quality water for the garden and the animals.

One well might have higher quality water for we humans.

Often encampments with animals would have the humans getting cleaner water from upstream, and the animals getting their less clean water from downstream.

And where I live, drilling a well is no guarantee of good water. Often people get sulfur smelling water, or even salty water (from which they extracted salt, a necessary ingredient for life). I even had a customer in granite country where the water flows in cracks, and hitting the crack with a well was always problematical. "A miss is as good as a mile" as the old saying goes.

If you struggle with getting a successful well, consider the alternatives, like a sump.
