Women in Combat

Women in combat

All politics and feel-goodism aside, post-pubescent human physiology is an inescapable controlling factor. The sad truth is that on average, women have 20% less muscle mass than men. And for young women, the ratio of body fat versus muscle runs about 15% higher than men. So unless the Army launches a special recruitment campaign looking for lean, muscular women who are 6'2" or taller, then distaff soldiers will never be a physical match for their male counterparts. (Again, on average.) When you consider the 90 to 100 pound loads carried daily by foot soldiers in this modern era of body armor with SAPI plates, batteries, beau coup ammo, hydration packs, et cetera) it is not realistic to think that females can hack it, at least in the infantry. And how many women will be able to lift 155mm projectiles to the breach, hour after hour? Let's not sacrifice our ability to wage war at 100% for the sake of Political Correctness.

          Poster's comments:

The new world USA has lots of hard working and loyal females who presently serve in the military; and many more who want to serve.

A wise and savvy leader, and also a parent, would maximize our USA strengths and minimize our weaknesses. All this assumes we want to win in our own way, like preserve our way of life, like our culture.

The sex factor is a big deal, in my experience. Boys and girls want to get together, generally speaking. I think most people know this. I myself have even experienced it, like a senior enlisted man having  a tent erected just so he could have sex with several compliant females. He, and they, went home to the USA early. And we paid for it.

I have served with females in combat situations, too. In my experience, they could burn shitters and man machine gun positions as well as anyone.

As a recruiter, I know a lot of our female kids do a really good job in so many military skills that don't need strength. Determination and willingness to sacrifice was a very good instinct to have, by the way. I was proud of them.

Now if we want to lose, just lower our performance standards in ground combat positions, and see what happens in ground combat. In the meantime, many of us will die at home if we lower our military standards for political and idealistic reasons. Like the "huns" will come.

Don't set our female children up for failure in ground combat is my vote.

And as an old man, I want the best defense I can have. That idea includes as a parent, too.
