Community events

A large number of events have occurred, and will still occur, to keep a community going.

It may be sports, eating, social, religious, gambling, or whatever, including some or all.

One may say such past events provided some form of entertainment, like a break from the drudgery of hard daily work.

Examples that come to mind are ice cream socials, community amateur baseball games, school sports events, rotating church services to mix blood for marriages, food events, etc. The sky and imagination are the only limits.

Even the locations can be organized assembly areas like a stadium or church grounds or city square, or even somebody's house and yard. Even some combination will sometimes occur.

The key point is that we all enjoy the periodic break and entertainment of many community events. And a community can be as small as a local compound, or as large as a region several counties in size. After all, travel times count, too.

And in a silly sort of way, it may even help keep the spark of civilization and culture alive in some places. "Good on" the organizers in these cases.

All this discussion is for hard times. During today's good times, the present situation works pretty well, too.
