1) I’ve done a bit of computer
programming in my past.
2) I came at this link when
researching Visual Basic (VB), a present day programming language now in an
improved version.
3) Computer programming languages
come and go, usually getting better and easier to use over time, but
never-the-less each its own language that is all too often not connected to
anything you know or have taught yourself in your past. So be forewarned.
4) Learning a computer language
can be a good hobby for those so inclined.
5) Now you can program any
computer to do about anything, or you can buy a widget that does the same thing
for probably a lesser cost.
6) I can remember using a tape
cassette to load info into a very basic Tandy computer, for example.
7) Last, one question. How do you
intend to power your computer, which usually runs off of public electric power,
if public electric power goes out? There are ways to do it, but one gains an
advantage if they plan ahead.
8) Before electrically powered
computers there were mechanically powered computers, and even slide rules using
the logarithmic scales. There were even logarithmic books for surveyors to use.
9) Suppose you have a “widget”
that is out-of-date, like it works at maybe 80% of what a more modern and newer
widget works at. My comment is “so what”, like 80% is still better than
nothing, and often still quite good in getting its job done. Remember, there
was a time when your widget was considered to be 100% in performance, too.
