            My understanding is that there were two different designs...both worked.  One was the British design, and one was the German design.

            Later the Mig-15 Russian fighter (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mikoyan%E2%80%93Gurevich_MiG-15) started out with the German designed engine, and then switched to the British design of jet engine (a good-will gesture  from Prime Minister Clement Attlee (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clement_Attlee). That is the Mig-15 the USA first saw in the Korean War.
