Conventional
wisdom is the minimum requirement for human use of water is one (1) gallon per
day (US gallon), which is 3.8 liters per day. If you have less than that,
consider rationing water in all of its uses. Last, conventional wisdom is that
humans can survive up to three days without water, depending on the situation,
of course.
One
does not want to get dehydrated (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dehydrated), for
example. To get dehydrated invites a miserable mental and physical condition
and possible death.
