The last hurrah

The last hurrah

One thing I seldom see reported in the USA media these days is how woefully underfunded the USA military is (on purpose by our political leaders and their appointed bureaucrats), and hence how impaired it is.  The cascading Defense cuts are truly cutting to the bone. The USA is militarily weaker, and on purpose. And the impact on NATO is becoming more obvious, too, mostly on the logistics and sustainability side of things. The times of dropping fake bombs from limited airplanes with flour as a marker are going to come back, as a suggested example.

Yet the media still reports that the USA is militarily omnipresent, which, in my opinion, was a fair report about even a decade ago. But not these days.

I imagine many USA military Families are presently bailing out, or not even volunteering, too.  That's what I would do, even if the civilian market doesn't look very good, either.  And the many myriad of reasons provide the opinion, including the recent pay cut that also affects their retirement and future Family prospects. Remember there is presently no military draft in the USA. It's all volunteer. We're supposed to pay for our defense as a nation. And it has been a pretty good system for decades.

The current debate about Syria is my example of a "last hurrah".

The USA can still mount a one-time strike at Syria, but cannot sustain it, like even pay for it. That's it. These things , like the American way of war, do cost money. Said even another way, while expensive, this method has brought victory and peace in our own land. Even I wish It could also be more thriftier, but still give value to the basics, like peace and safety for myself and my Family.

Whether it is a stupid or smart effort I will defer to the pundits in the media and decision makers in our government to offer their opinions and decisions. They write better than I, in my general opinion. And what the decision makers decide does affect me and my future.

Isn't  it amazing how quickly things can go downhill in the new world USA? Like it only took about five years, using tax payer funded Obama phones and cell phone services, as an example. This "spreading the wealth around" has impacts on all of us.  Now I do listen because it will affect me adversely before these people leave office, or just die off, both of which will happen eventually. Said another way, let them draw their lawful retirements until they too pass on, which will also happen eventually.

In the meantime, I am going to hook my plow up to my tractor to prepare a better 2014 garden, just in case. After all, I and my Family and Friends have to live, too, whatever happens in Syria and the USA. Sometimes beans are better than bullets when it comes to life in the USA itself. And we still have land to grow food on, like as recently as WWII and now today in 2013. Maybe even I am as smart, or smarter and better educated, than many of our present leaders seem to be these days.

What usually happens in such an evolving situation when a nation like the USA unilaterally disarms, and then wants to build back up militarily as quick as it can and for its own reasons, is that a military draft comes back decided upon by our politicians. So I expect this debate to begin in the next decade or so (the old USA military draft ended in 1974). Do you want your children to be drafted in the future for such a "old" reason? And it is not just our young people and your children. I once had a barber who got drafted as part of the USA WWII effort, and he was in his 30's when it happened to him.

Last, all this is not going to happen, but is actually happening now, like right in front of us. Said another way, the USA is being plundered by the present leaders for their own reasons. It will become more and more obvious as time goes on.

Is this what you want? Of course I suspect some will want to surrender to other ideas about how to rule the new world USA, including our present practiced religions. Most Americans also don't want to go along with surrender as a course of action, I also suspect.

My encouragement to those who live here in the new world USA (the majority still)  is to vote to rule our land and ourselves, vice revolt or have a civil war, or even surrender. We citizens of the USA are still in charge of our future through our existing  constitutional republic.  And, as always, it will be hard work both to maintain, or change it if we want to; and it will always take time to "make it happen".

We in the new world USA have something worth fighting for and defending , if it comes down to that. Said another way, it does not have to be a "last hurrah" as the title suggests, but can also be a better way to advance humanity on the face of the earth. Of course this will take leadership and effort, but "time we in the world  have" in order to better organize and lead to a better future for our children, and even our own new world USA future.

Even our military and most Americans  recognize the importance of "winning the hearts and minds" of whomever they have been assigned to win over. Now where I live today in the USA, I sure wish my politicians would do the same for where I presently exist on the Cumberland Plateau in east Tennessee. Our USA land where I live could stand some "winning over" and improvement and some smartly applied tax payer incentives, in my opinion, of course.

Until then, like until things change to meet my expectations, then it is back to the plow as another course of action I can still choose since I still have land. And it is sunny and dry outside right now. Even yesterday morning I bought another 4+ gallons of diesel for my tractor that pulls the plow. Just planning ahead and just in case,  I would say. Beans that I can grow are looking better and better to me these days if I want to survive as best I can and where I live.
