Brewing a meal in 2013
Now I recognize the term
"brewing" is usually associated with alcohol brewing.
But I suggest adding another
connotation to the phrase "brewing a meal".
Mostly I would add just slow cooking
to about anything, and then allowing the ingredients to mix together in their own
way and on their own time table.
And slow cooking as a method is so
convenient to most.
The idea is twofold.
One is just to present a meal that
has also has some medicinal qualities that you want to promote. Like it is both
food and some medicine that helps the intended recipient's health, and usually one's Family.
Of course what to add and how to add
it is a personal choice. Today I added
some minced garlic and chopped green peppers to my canned baked beans with onion and bacon
and brown sugar already in it, and then I let it "brew". It smelled
wonderful.
Two is just to be honest to
yourself and others. Mostly to me that
means making healthy meals if you can, and let flavor come in second. Others may disagree, but that is my opinion,
at least if times should get hard.
