Here we go again

Here we go again

Are we now going to surrender to these relatively minor criminals?

U.S., French Believe One Gunman Received Training in Yemen

Charlie Hebdo Attacker May Have Trained With al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula

By Julian E. Barnes in the Wall Street Journal

WASHINGTON—U.S. and French intelligence believe that one of the two gunmen in the Paris attack Wednesday received weapons training in Yemen, U.S. officials said
U.S. officials said they believe Said Kouachi trained in Yemen in 2011. French intelligence also has made a similar assessment and has shared it with American officials, according to a U.S. official.
The training was believed to be under the auspices of Yemen-based al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, an al Qaeda offshoot known as AQAP, officials said
U.S. officials said they were looking into any possible continuing ties between the brothers and AQAP. Officials said they have not yet found any intelligence that AQAP directed, ordered or monitored the attack.
“We know they were inspired, but we do not know the extent they were associated with al Qaeda,” said another U.S. official.
Current and former officials said the tactical prowess demonstrated in the attack clearly showed the gunmen received training and rehearsed the attack before Wednesday.
“The attack was very complex. It was obviously less complex than 9/11 but it was tactically complex, that required planning, reconnaissance, logistics and support from above,” said Michael Flynn, a retired lieutenant general and former head of the Defense Intelligence Agency. “They trained for this attack somewhere else, but today, less time now is spent in training camps. But these guys had some level of training. They clearly rehearsed this attack.”
Gen. Flynn said the attack appears to have the strategic impact that many al Qaeda affiliates are trying to achieve, evoking international outrage.
“The strategic impact of this attack is exactly what they wanted. What they wanted is international condemnation. It is counterintuitive to us, but it makes perfect sense to them. That is what makes them heroes. And these guys thrive as being seen as heroes in the world of the radical Islamists. What these guys did is going to boost recruiting,” Gen. Flynn said.
Rep. Ed Royce (R., Calif.), the chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said in a CNN interview that lawmakers on his panel believe the Paris attack was directed by AQAP, based on reported ties between the Kouachi brothers and the Yemen-based organization. The assertion goes beyond the assessments of U.S. counterterrorism officials, who have acknowledged the operation was more sophisticated than other recent anti-Western attacks.

Poster’s comments:
1)      Sometimes we have to fight.
2)      There is nothing wrong with defending ourselves.
3)      I would say these fighters attacked, too.
4)      I would also say we have something to defend, too.
5)      We are not too shabby, and also a good hope for the future world as our children will grow to learn it.
6)      I would say that “something” is worth fighting for, too
7)      I can imagine our governments will change to, like to better reflect the feelings of today’s people that are being ruled by the present elected government people, and their appointed minions.
8)      Obama ran on the idea of change. I would predict it will become apparent around the election of 2020. By then the present two national political parties will have been supplanted by a new political party, whose name is still unknown to me. Presently it is called the Tea Party.
9)      Anyway, some of them want to fight for their beliefs. That’s obvious to me.  I suspect many more want to fight for their other beliefs, too. For the parents who breed and raise such such children, good on ya, and thank you for raising them, too.
10)  So while I hope the present bad people get killed by the French, there are probably more around the corner. Damn, I might be too old be accepted anymore.
11)  Where I presently live in east Tennessee, my federal government is bringing back black bears for what I think is good reason. Now in our past we killed and ate them all, or so I believe. So when black bears now harass us, sometimes we take care of it, and our government people are never involved.

Once in North Carolina, a large rattlesnake threatened a bunch of children. When the military police showed up, they wanted to arrest the bad person (the mother) who was defending her kids. And her husband was deployed thousands of miles away at the time. And the snake and people were just there at the time. Well, it all sorted out OK when all told the policeman they had “no idea” who killed the snake, but somebody not to be reported in this post certainly defended the children as best they could. And they, which usually means having an OK Family meal, did have an OK meal.
