What exactly are Chili Beans?

What exactly are Chili Beans?

Here are some opinions:

Poster’s comments:
1)      Chili beans are any kind of bean or beans the cook wants to use or can get.
2)      This cook has not made chili with other grains or such things, like barley, rice, or pasta.
3)      Most beans supposedly have a lot of protein, which is good for most people and animals.
4)      Beans make this old male kind of gassy, too. Oh well…..
5)      Chili sauce and chili spices of some kind does help the enjoyment, at least normally.
6)      One can substitute ground pork for ground beef (or ground anything) for the meat portion if they so choose. Even TVP (textured vegetable protein) flavored fake meats can be used.
7)      Adding tomatoes is also a good idea. Now what type of preparation and choice is up to the cook.
8)      Whether to add any kind of cheese to the concoction during cooking or later serving is usually a cook’s choice.
9)      History says to this poster that chili was very popular during long cattle drives. Often these cattle drives in the new world USA took months.
10)  The longer chili cooks (another term often used is “brews”) the better it seems to get. Why this poster does not know, but still believes so. Said another way, don’t make cooking it short term and expect pleasing results from those that eat it. Now even that short term meal will still make them better off.
11)  Using canned chili is a crap shoot to me, like eating it with grilled cheese sandwiches on a cold season day. I figure at least it has been soaking in the can for a while, but I just don’t have a reliable opinion, other than it does tend to make me gassy, too. Oh well, again…..
12)  If you make chili as a cook, you can also name it, like call it Chili, Jakarta style; or American Chili, Cincinnati style. I figure if you do the cook’s work, than you can sure name it, too.
