1)      The entire movie was filmed in England. Even Hollywood rebuilt an old English Army base to look like Parris Island, SC. They did a good job.

2)      One Marine buddy who earned a Navy Cross during the Battle of Hue city (in Vietnam) said the set in England (the second half of the movie) he thought was pretty realistic.

3)      Going through boot camp seems funny right now, but I can assure you it was not funny at the time, especially since I was there.

4)      One drill instructor kept saying he was going to make someone commit suicide, and I even believed him after a while.  Nobody did, by the way.

5)      The best way of committing suicide was drinking Brasso, also. One uses whatever our government provides, in the end.

6)      We Americans are OK.
