Shepherd's Pie
Here’s some recipe ideas. I
am inclined to think about using my wood stove camping ovens, or even my wood
powered cooking stove and oven, too. For those with a fire place, consider
using a Dutch Oven, also.
Of course I can eat an MRE
[Meal Ready to Eat] in the interim, too. I have a bunch stockpiled, too. While
I prefer not to eat them, I know I can if I need or want to.
And for that matter, one can
substitute meat types in any Shepherd Pie, also. Like use rat meat, squirrel
meat, pet meat, rabbit meat, horse meat, or sheep meat, for examples. Anything
that can make some fat during cooking to add flavor alone is not a bad way to
go. And always remember the spices, too.
The logic is to periodically
make something special that all eaters might enjoy. Said another way, this is
not an everyday kind of meal idea, at least for most during their own hard
times. This is more like a once a week meal idea, at least for their own possible
hard times.
Now here are some recipe
ideas:
PS My own potato greenery survived my local
bitter cold winter spells in my own above ground tire gardens. Now how it did
survive I do not know, and I also assume the potatoes did not grow much during
the winter, but spring’s warmer weather is now around the corner, so hope does
spring eternal. Said another way, I
think I will have to dig up my remaining potatoes sustained by the greenery
during the past winter, and go from there.
And how to
best preserve these potatoes for eating later
is another subject, too.
