A dominant region

A dominant region

How can so small a part of the World influence such a big World?

I am referring to the Northeast Megalopolis in the USA (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northeast_megalopolis).

And while this region and its people are not a tribe in the classical sense, I still think of it as a tribe of sorts.

And the people in this region tend to be good people of good stock, successful people to generalize.  What worries me is that they live together, grow up together, get educated together, get married together, work together, worship together, and then get buried together.  And out of all this they tend to dominate the rest of the Country and the World with their values, their culture, their foods, and their basic reporting about what will affect us all. Even weather reports tend to focus on this region, too.

BBC and World News out of London it is not.

Even all this comes across OK to me until I realize that our present USA media centers also tend to be centered there, and even attract so many immigrants from elsewhere. And what spews from these media centers is not always what the rest of the Country and the World are thinking and working on in their own busy lives and in their own cultures.

Said another way, a century ago it made more sense to send our children to the schools in this region for advanced education than it does today. There are now plenty of wonderful schools in the rest of the Country and World that do a good job of educating our children for their own success.  The times they are a’changing.

That it is probably a time of transition appears obvious to me, and the big arrow is pointed away from this region and towards the rest of the Country and the World.  Or so is my opinion.  The status quo and pace of the last century of time is really changing, and the astute can navigate and exploit this if they choose.

Now an advanced education gained from this region is one thing, but never discount the value of being smart or experienced that counts for so much, also. To be smart, one can thank their Mom and Dad. To be experienced does not take immigrating to this presently dominant region to gain this experience.  One can gain good experience at home, wherever that is.

And connections count, too. Keep in mind this is a time of quicker transition, and the most astute will do well in this kind of environment and area, wherever that is, also.
