One face of the future
All is not
doom and gloom. I can imagine our future will be difficult, like our ancestors
went through in their time.
There are
many ways to think, and get ahead and survive. In USA military terms, it is to
win in the end. KISS (keep it simple stupid) and “war is a continuum of
politics by another means” comes to mind.
Does this
mean much confusion and other such periods of change in the status quo will go
on; of course?
One Marine promoted Boyd (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OODA_loopbig
time). It was Al Grey, a Commandant of the Marine Corps. Grey (who started out
as a Private of Marines, like talk about American meritocracy) read a lot, and
Boyd was a real thinker and aggressive promoter, so the combination went
together quite well.
I still think of Boyd as the father of the F-16 in the end. Of
course the Air Force has “heavied it up a good bit, too.” And in the end, the
Air Force promotion boards wouldn’t even promote him to General of any kind.
I can live with all that, but also when he died from old age the
Air Force dumped on him again in terms of attendance at his funeral, etc. It
was shabby treatment, at least to me.
Thank goodness the Marines, and American Naval Aviation in
general, recognized him in death in a better way.
So how are we to survive, and even go forward to a better world
(like make a better world for our children), if times get hard? Here is one link to think about, like make up
your own mind:
