Wonton
I learned wontons (according to this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wonton)
have a more Chinese than a Japanese history.
Either way, if you know how to fold diapers you also
probably know how to fold wontons for food, and vice versa.
By the way, wrapped foods have many other names and
histories, methods of cooking, and methods of serving them, etc.
And there are so many imported foods and meals eaten in
Japan to where they have an industry that just makes fake foods and fake meals
for display in store windows, usually offered with some number or code on it so
you know what to order inside.
I don’t know of any similar industry anywhere else,
either.
And I remember in Okinawa for a super bowl party, we ate
take-out sushi vice the more American food stuff we eat at Super Bowl time,
here.
