Obama and protocol
By Jack Hellner in American Thinker
According to Press Secretary Josh
Earnest, the President and his staff are offended because Speaker Boehner went
around them to invite Netanyahu. They say that violated protocol. That is rich.
The President was supposed to keep
Congress informed every time his administration released people from Gitmo.
They did not. That obviously violates protocol.
The President and his staff
negotiated with Iran secretly, without keeping Congress informed. That
obviously violates protocol.
The President has continually
changed the ACA law without going through Congress. That obviously not only
violates protocol but his oath of office.
The President essentially created
new immigration law without going through Congress. Now he threatens that if
Congress changes anything on immigration that he will veto it. That is implying
that he has the right to implement new laws without going through Congress.
That obviously violates the Constitution and protocol.
So please spare me the outrage when
they say that Boehner somehow didn’t pay attention to some fictitious rule. My
guess is that as a separate branch of government Congress can invite whomever
they like.
