Posters comments:

1) A swept yard offers distinct advantages to protecting one's home and kids from creatures that crawl, waddle, and slither on the ground.

2) One can think of a swept yard as a clear field of fire, too.

3)  Most humans and wildlife will be intimidated by a swept yard, in my opinion.

4) Even open land, like at a golf course or a school play area, offers distinct advantages to the defense.

5) Giving up cover and concealment is a big deal that most humans and wildlife want to avoid when seeking to harm those with gardens and food.
