Reaction Training
Generally speaking, our decision
making abilities decline as we get physically tired.
Reaction training is one way to
learn this "quality" about ourselves, and even how to best overcome
the negative effects of decision making when tired.
Now reaction training can be used
two ways that I know of:
1) As an evaluation tool.
2) As a training tool.
For those that have used running as
part of a sport, one often learns how to maintain their physical rhythm to
maximize the rewards. The same idea applies to one's mental rhythm, also.
Orienteering is a sport that naturally teaches an individual how to balance our
physical and mental rhythm to maximize the outcome, like earning a better time
when finishing a course.
So that is what reaction training
is, and can do for both individuals and organizations during all kinds of
times, be they good times or hard times. Said another way, it can be a tool in
one's bag of tricks to help any individual and organization succeed. Said even
another way, it can be a tool when constructing a leadership training course,
or even evaluating our leaders' abilities to think well and act well when
physically tired.

And reaction training is different
from confidence training. Examples of confidence training could be a simple ropes
course, or a slide for life over water, or even rappelling training.
