A close cousin to corn is sorghum.
Local Mennonites make sorghum molasses out of crushing the stalks and boiling
down the sugary liquid that results. The sorghum grains are always enjoyed by
both wild and domestic animals. Humans can make an alcoholic beverage and fuel
out of sorghum, too. A wiki link on sorghum can be found at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sorghum
