Scenario: Second American Civil War

Scenario: Second American Civil War

Predicting anything, including a possible new civil war in America is fraught with difficulties.
The obvious difficulty is the timing. Another difficulty is just what will happen, including things like “guessed at” maps and boundaries.
There are many links on this subject, too. So this link is just one of them.
Last is the usual wild card, like a mother nature type event happening, like the Yellowstone caldera letting go, and just what does that do to affect America’s recovery and future.
I suspect  many people alive today won’t make it in the long run, either. What a shame if that should happen. Even if we have too many people, there are better ways to address that problem than death, or even like China did trying to institute a one child rule. Now some bureaucrat there even wants to try cap the total population of the capitol of that Nation. The old line applies, “good initiative, poor judgment”.
And it should be obvious to most that the American nation is truly divided in so many ways, and also like historically normal.  A United States of America (USA) is truly a unique combination in world history, and the slow forming of a new world USA “tribe” is worth developing in the long run. It can be said to be a kind of win-win Country. I still call it a melting pot, even thought the more modern expression (fad if you will) is “cultural diversity”.
And never forgot the long term effects, either. Even where I live in east Tennessee the first American Civil War never came here, though bandits in the guise of being guerillas did operate; and so even in 2015 people still fly the flags of rebellion by the local Interstate road. And the people who do this were obviously not alive back then, but still have strong emotions and thoughts about this subject taught to them by their ancestors.
Unfortunately, those more interested in short term gains, mostly personal aggrandizement, still have powerful interests that support them these days. History abounds with these types, too. Yet, I am old enough to remember the John F. Kennedy statement during an inauguration of his that went something like “ask not what your Country can do for you, but what can you do for your Country”. Now while that expression flies into the face of Family and friends issues, never-the-less that idea most likely will prey on the minds of most moral people.
So what might a second American civil war mean to you? I don’t know and don’t care to try to suggest what it might mean to you, and your own conduct. After all, the first American Civil War divided up Families and even West Point, so I can expect much the same to happen again, if it even comes to it.  I myself still prefer the vote as a way to change things under an American system that we the people have already developed over 200 years. That includes a Constitution that we take oaths to support, vice oaths to support whoever is alive and politically in charge at the time.  That includes the idea of the law equally applying to all of us, rich, poor, leaders, followers, hard workers and lazy people. Said another way, nobody is above the law.  Said even another way, we in the new world USA are all equal. Said another way, gaining political advantage is at best a short term gain, but people in present charge just never seem to learn that. Hence, the threat of a civil war if the vote is taken away.
I am personally repulsed when I hear my present Federal President say “that’s the right thing to do”.  Well, I am confident that is the “right thing to do according to his beliefs”, but we elected him to represent us, and not himself. There are other courses of action, too.
