New Year's Eve Ideas
For the geeks, this is a solar based new year. There is still the lunar
new year to look forward to, also.
Here are some links to recipe Ideas:

There are lots of other food
recipe links, too.
Many want to be kept warm or
chilled for serving, too.
Of course there's nothing wrong
with store bought things like chips and dip and pretzels. Keeping chips and
pretzels and other such things crisp is always difficult, too.
And you probably can still
get some kind of (locally made or store bought) party supplies and containers
and signs, too. Even turning off the Christmas tree at midnight local time is
one idea. Using a clock or watch is also obvious to most.
If you have a mixed party
with people who don't know each other very well or at all, consider some name
tags, too.
As to alcoholic beverages and sodas
and sparkling cider, that is another decision and idea to think about. Even consider
offering some kind of small drink containers, for example, like at a wedding.
For those that go to bed early, consider
picking a midnight in another part of the world to celebrate. Or if you are a
visitor, just leave early.
The most obvious theme is "New
Years Eve". But consider a "sub-theme" if in the mood. The possibilities are all over the place.
One still has to have food and
beverages for New Year's Day, but that is another story and set of ideas.
Here's one early idea if you stay up to celebrate New Year's Eve. Keep the New Year's Day meals simple and easy
to make and serve.
Last, don't forget your pets and farm
animals if you have them. It's just another day to them, most likely.
