How to Treat Road Rash

Here is one link on the subject:  http://www.wikihow.com/Treat-Road-Rash

Bottom line to this Marine and former Scout: seek advice from an advisor, like a doctor, nurse, medic, corpsman, EMS tech, or whomever you trust.

In the meantime, and especially if the wound is "oozing", just dry it out as best you can and let the body heal itself. Now that advice is easy to give and often hard to achieve. For example, any kind of clean cloth is not a bad way to start. Also try using simple vinegar or hydrogen peroxide (5% common store bought is fine) if that seems like a good try.

The advice in the link is also OK to me.

Here is one more wiki link on wound healing in general:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wound_healing

Last, if the wound does not clear up in a day or so, then plan on a longer period of time, like a week or so. A good sign usually is if the oozing wound begins to scab up to heal itself better.
