A soup kitchen meal story
At least I and the yard dogs liked it
The ingredients were pretty simple.
I used a double boiler to heat it
and maintain the temperature, but a regular old pot would probably do just as
well.
The ingredients were: local water,
dehydrated vegetable soup mix ( with dehydrated carrots, onions, tomatoes,
peas, celery, green bell peppers, green beans, and parsley), and some extra
tomato powder. To that I mixed in one
small tin of potted meat food product to add some extra flavor and fat to the
meal. The amount of ingredients depends on the size of the pot(s), and your
fancy.
Being a Marine implies three things
per this meal story. One is that I rehearse everything I can if the time and
situation permits. Second is that I eat whatever I make as part of my rehearsal
method. Third is that boiling the whole meal made it food safe to eat.
And there is a fourth factor, too.
Anything warm is good for morale about anytime of the year. And some honesty from the leaders about the
situation sure helps morale, too.
