Random war: The commander in chief is lost

Random war: The commander in chief is lost

EDITORIAL

We would like to know what planet President Obama lives on, for it sounds lovely.

On that planet, there are no Islamist terrorists. The United States has no enemies there, only well-meaning people offended by bumbling, arrogant Americans.

On his planet, words take the place of deeds. Want something done? Just speak it. Assad must go. Al-Qaida is on the run. We will destroy and degrade ISIS.

For a glimpse into this magical place, see Obama's remarks last week on the Paris kosher deli attack in which four people were killed just two days after the Charlie Hebdo massacre.

"It is entirely legitimate for the American people to be deeply concerned when you've got a bunch of violent, vicious zealots who behead people or randomly shoot a bunch of folks in a deli in Paris," he said.

The President will not say "radical Islam." He denies even that ISIS terrorists are Islamic at all.

So for what are these people violently zealous? Bagels? Taylor Swift albums?

The White House spokesman would not even concede in a press conference that the deli was targeted because it was Jewish. Later, he conceded - on Twitter - that the attack was anti-Semitic.

Then on Wednesday Obama asked Congress to authorize the use of military force against ISIS. We are to make war on violent weirdos who attack at random and are no serious threat to the United States? Also, Obama said, no ground troops.

If anyone in this saga can be described as behaving randomly, it is our President.
