How long will we follow orders from
our superiors?
It’s hard to believe it is even happening
in our new world USA, too.
The question
begs several more questions, too.
Right now it
(the rioting in the downtown area) is in the Baltimore area, but really it
could be about anywhere urban these days, again mostly urban areas I would say.
Or so is my opinion.
And as a
Marine, I would prefer to just shoot them all and get it over with, but I know
that is not the American way, whatever that is.
One question
is that there are no “rules” during any riot of whomever is rioting. The
suggestion that outsiders are coming in is both appealing, and maybe a good
hint as to what is really happening in Baltimore.
Second is
why are they rioting, like how do we bring their reasons for rioting to a close
while we address the under-lying issues, too? Now that usually takes time.
Third is
that there are good family people (like their lives mostly) and businesses to
protect, too. Now that is a big deal to
many. Our police do a very good job in that aspect.
Fourth, one
can either believe in good order and discipline, or not.
Fifth, I
still trust the process of investigating the untimely death of the individual,
even given all the circumstances being reported these days. Said another way, give it the time it needs
to be an accurate report of what really happened.
Sixth, I
still believe “we the people” still run our country through our own elected
representatives.
Then, and
only then, will I willfully follow orders I trust and believe in. At this point
in time, and perhaps there is a time-lapse kind of disconnect, then the rules
may have changed. Said another way, perhaps many of us won’t just follow
blinding orders from above anymore.
